Killing the handicapped?

Big news in the realm of capital punishment.  In Georgia, Brandon Rhode, who was sentenced to the death penalty has had his execution postponed due to suicidal attempt.  He has been diagnosed with both Organic Brain Damage and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.  FASD can cause a person to be a the mental level of someone much younger than themselves prompting Rhodes lawyer to ask that his death sentence be repealed completely.

What do you think? does this qualify Rhodes to be taken off death row?

  1. This is a interesting post that I wanted to comment on. First I would find it interesting to know what Brandon Rhode did to get put on the death row (what his crime was), also I am against the death penalty in general and think that it should not be used against the mentally handicapped, but I am not sure what things constitute a mental handicapped. Also, I think it is interesting that you can not kill inmates that are ill/injured which seems contradictory in that they need to be healthy enough to be killed?!? Doesn't seem to make much sense.
